Off To See The Wizard....

I recently made a Wizard of Oz altered cigar box for a swap I was in.  I loved this challenge! I had a plan going into it, and as these things do, it completely evolved into something else. I was pretty pleased with the way it turned out, although I did want to add some metal feet to it, but darn if I could find them anywhere in the studio.......until the day after I mailed it :o)
This is the top lid of the box (featuring Graphic 45 fabulous papers)
I used the beautiful poppy fields for the sides of the box, distressing all edges with
Tim Holtz distress ink.
This is the inside lid of the box, I used more Graphic 45 papers, vintage book pages
some bits from the studio, and some project leftovers that I brought home from CHA.
This is the inside bottom of the box. I couldn't finish without paying homage to the iconic
yellow brick road. I hand cut all of the bricks from some yellow glitter cardstock. I laid them all
in, but it was just a little too 'bright'. I decided to layer some of my Tattered Angels glimmer mists to tone it down and add some depth. I used 3 shades, blotting in between with a papertowel, and finally setting it with a heat tool. The handcut imperfect bricks along with the aged finish, turned out to be the perfect
finishing touch.
